Recreation Area 'De Vooroever'
There are several beaches along Lake IJsselmeer, perfect for relaxing in the summer. About 1 km away, you’ll find the nature and recreation area 'De Vooroever,' where you can take a calm walk with your dog (on a leash) and enjoy a swim in the lake during the summer months.
Harbors along Lake IJsselmeer
Along the lake, there are also charming harbors where you can rent sailboats to visit the harbors of West-Friesland. About a 10-minute walk from Vakantiepark Het Grootslag is the harbor of Andijk, a modern marina that accommodates around 600 boats. Here you’ll find the excellent restaurant Restaurant 1619, with a cozy terrace offering a fantastic view of the IJsselmeer and the sailboats in the harbor.
Sailing on Lake IJsselmeer
In Medemblik, just a stone's throw away from Het Grootslag, sailing lessons are also offered. During the season, you can take a sailing course. The city also regularly hosts sailing races, including the Delta-Lloyd Regatta. Medemblik is certainly worth visiting during the Delta-Lloyd Regatta, where the city has a lively atmosphere with various events and activities.
During the colder months, Lake IJsselmeer is the perfect place for a refreshing walk with your children or to take a long walk with your dog.

At Vakantiepark Het Grootslag, you can enjoy a weekend getaway, a midweek break, or a stay of one or more weeks near Hoorn. There is plenty to do at the park! Guests can take advantage of our indoor swimming pool, tennis court, and mini-golf. Vakantiepark Het Grootslag is located directly by Lake IJsselmeer, in a peaceful environment perfect for scenic walks and bike rides. The charming towns of Enkhuizen, Alkmaar, and Hoorn are just a stone's throw away.
Fishing enthusiasts can enjoy carp and roach fishing in the park's waters. Children can have fun pony riding at our pony ranch, play in the playground with a bouncy castle, or cuddle with goats and rabbits in the petting zoo. Of course, all of our holiday homes come with free Wi-Fi.
